Dietz Company in 1953.  These Dietz Traffic Gard No. 40 lanterns were primarily used for automobile traffic control.

Dietz Traffic Gard No. 40 Lantern

 

Presented here through Fickle Moon Antiques is this Dietz No. 40 Traffic ‘Gard’ lantern. Although it was not made for the railroad, we have included the term Railroadiana for those who are searching for railroad lamps. Embury Manufacturing Company of Warsaw, New York, was acquired by the R.E. Dietz Company in 1953.

These Dietz Traffic Gard No. 40 lanterns were primarily used for automobile traffic control.

Signed on the top: Dietz; Syracuse N.Y. USA; No. 40 Traffic Gard.

The Fresnel globe has Dietz No. 40 in raised letters. Globe is in nice condition with no cracks or repairs. Some flea bites to the top mounting rim.

The wick is present and the wick adjustment is functional.

Please see pictures for detailed condition as this item has loss of finish; scratches; dents; etc.

This lantern is being sold as-is; no returns. All lanterns listed through Fickle Moon Antiques are being sold as display items and not for practical use.

CLAIMS:

All items are packed with care and fully insured. If the box exterior appears damaged upon arrival, we ask that you take photographs before opening the box. Upon opening, please inspect the item(s) for damage; document as well with photographs if damaged. It is imperative that you keep all of the original shipping-packing materials if your item is damaged during shipment. The buyer is required to  contact us immediately (within 24 hours) if their item arrives damaged so that the proper claims procedures can be initiated.   Claims personnel (FedEx, UPS, USPS) will inspect the damaged package to determine the cause of damage and verify that proper packing materials were used (in accordance with the shipping terms). Claims personnel may inspect the package at the shipper’s or receiver’s site, or may collect the package for inspection at a claims facility. If the buyer hires a third-party shipping agent and the item is damaged, the buyer has full responsibility to handle the claim with their agent.

Take pictures if the box exterior exhibits signs of damage.

Upon opening, inspect the item for damage.  Document damage with several photographs.

Retain all shipping materials (box, packing, etc.).

The buyer is required to contact us within 24 hours.  No exceptions.

The buyer will have to contact the carrier as well to establish a possible inspection by the agent.
