The Miller Lamp Company Antique Secretary/Banker’s Lamp

Circa 1920; green and white cased Emeralite shade supported by an Art Nouveau cast bronze base; concealed cast iron base weight is impressed ‘E M & Co 896’ (Edward Miller & Company).
This type of lamp was used with pianos, roll-top desks, and two-tiered secretary desks (horizontal and not vertical).
The Art Nouveau base sports a fine patina; E M & Co 896 impressed signature is on a concealed weight inside the base (see picture E M & Co 896).
Rewired with cloth-covered twisted period cord and a new plug. Green and white cased shade can be tilted. The interior socket has been updated. The white inner part of the shade has areas of discoloration and one small chip to the lower edge (see picture). Overall fine condition.
Edward Miller & Company was founded in 1844; Meriden, Connecticut. The company originally produced metal candle holders, kerosene lamps and gas lighting.

Claims personnel may inspect the package at the shipper’s or receiver’s site; or they may collect the package for inspection at a claims facility. If the buyer hires a third-party shipping agent and the item is damaged, the buyer has full responsibility to handle the claim with their agent.
Take pictures if the box exterior exhibits signs of damage.
Upon opening, inspect the item for damage. Document damage with several photographs.
Retain all shipping materials (box, packing, etc.).
The buyer is required to contact us within 24 hours. No exceptions.
The buyer will have to contact the carrier as well to establish a possible inspection by the agent.
